Everyone we meet at Stadsmissionen has a story.
Stories about searching for a place to sleep, about being hungry, involuntarily alone, or exposed to violence and threats. We meet the people behind these stories every day, all year round. And we work just as often to create opportunities for change – step by step towards a better life. At Stadsmissionen, you get the chance to be part of something bigger. Here, you make a real difference in meetings that matter. Together, we create a more humane society.
We are now looking for a guide for our open meeting place – a place where no day is like the other. Here, you become a safe point for people in vulnerable life situations. You meet them with warmth and respect, listen to their stories, help them find ways forward, and contribute to real change.
About the job
As a guide, you work with supportive measures based on each individual's needs. You work with varying interventions based on individual needs – everything from facilitating access to housing, financial assistance, and healthcare, to providing motivational conversations and guidance in contacts with authorities and other actors. You ensure that the visitors' basic needs and social rights are met. The role is versatile: you prepare and serve breakfast and lunch, plan and implement social activities, and document and report according to our routines. It is a job where you get to use both heart and mind – every day.
About you
We are looking for someone who has the ability to create a safe, calm, and positive atmosphere – both in meeting visitors and in collaboration with colleagues. You are relationship-building, empathetic, and have an easy time building trust, while also being able to set clear boundaries when needed. Since our visitors' needs vary, you need to be flexible, solution-focused, and have good self-awareness. You enjoy working in a team but are also self-driven and proactive. You are used to meeting people in vulnerable life situations and treat everyone with humanity and respect. Of course, you share Stadsmissionen's values and vision of a more humane society.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A completed post-secondary education as a treatment pedagogue, treatment assistant, or other education that the employer deems equivalent
- Experience in meeting people in vulnerable life situations
- A valid driver's license (B)
Meritorious:
- Documented knowledge of and/or experience working with addiction issues, mental health problems, and disabilities
- ÅP and/or MI training
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and value diversity in our workgroup.
Other
- Welcome with your application as soon as possible – selection is ongoing.
- A permanent position may be preceded by a probationary period of 6 months.
- Prior to new employment, we require a criminal record extract.
